Transmission options for the 2016 Fortuner are a six-speed manual (2.4 G M/T) and a six-speed automatic (rest of the range). Also benefitting from variable geometry turbo, it puts out 150 PS and 330 Nm while torque overboost is rated at 400 Nm. Replacing the old 2.5 liter is the 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV. It puts out 177 PS and 370 Nm of torque with overboost rated at 450 Nm. Sitting at the top is the new 2.8-liter 1GD – FTV inline-four turbodiesel with variable geometry turbo. The new Fortuner also benefits from Toyota's new range of diesel engines which are substantially smaller yet deliver more horsepower and torque. Top-spec variants will also get a DVD touch-screen entertainment system with navigation, automatic climate control and steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The new multi-information display shows fuel eco, a compass, and radio display. The All-New Fortuner now also comes with a capacitive touchscreen audio with navigation and a Multi-Information Display for both G and V variants. Wheelbase has been retained at 2750 mm.Īs for the interior, V models come in hues of dark brown, black and wood trim details while the G models boasts colors of chamois, black and dark wood trim details. For comparison's sake, the 2006 to 2015 Fortuner measures in at 4705 mm x 1840 mm x 1850 mm. This makes the second generation Fortuner longer and wider than its predecessor, apart from its height which has reduced. Size-wise, the 2016 Fortuner measures in at 4795 mm long, 1855 mm wide and 1835 mm tall.
G Models get 17 inch wheels while the V models ride on 18 inch wheels. The tail lamps now get LED guiding lights for better visibility and to give it a distinct style. Base model aside, the Fortuner also gets LED DRLs and Bi-Beam projector LED headlamps across the lineup.
Both headlights and tail lamps have been slimmed down, keeping it in line with Toyota's design language for pickups and SUVs. The exterior design is an evolution from the first generation model and it bears similar styling cues from the Hilux. Available in 2.7 G, 2.4 G, 2.4 V and 2.8 V, the 2016 Fortuner offers a wide variety of models throughout the range. According to the automaker, the 2016 Fortuner is a, "True SUV with style and confidence". Riding on the second generation IMV platform, the Fortuner is the second model to debut with the new platform after the Hilux pickup first debuted last year. Sporting a new exterior and interior design, along with new powertrain options, Toyota plans to be at the top of the Pickup Platform Vehicle (PPV) segment yet again. After being in production for over 10 years, along with two facelifts and a minor power bump in 2011, Toyota Motors Philippines has finally debuted the all-new 2016 Fortuner in Pasay City.
